I remember the Golem film was taken down because someone asserted copyright - I'm guessing the other was taken down for the same reason. I guess the copyright in Germany lasts longer than ours does?

Yeah, I don't know anything about them either, but i do remember that's why we took it down. People still ask us about it all the time, so it must be popular!

You can stille find them on google video, if you really want to see them.

Yes, you are quite right. You can watch everything on Google Video and YouTube, regardless of rights. As for me I already have mpeg1 files from the Internet Archive of the movies mentioned. And I have downloaded some great movies in flv format from Google and converted them to almost watchable mpeg4:s, for example "He Who Gets Slapped" by Victor Sjöström (1924) - I guess Victor would shake his head but understand.
